Padbol Scoreboard Problems and Fixes: A Courtside FAQ

Main guide: Padbol scoreboard guide

In this guide
When a padbol scoreboard misbehaves, the reason is almost always one of a handful of everyday things: a point tapped for the wrong pair after a hectic rally, a disagreement about the format, a phone joined to the wrong court, a TV that lost its connection or a screen washed out by reflections on the glass. This page lists what players and staff actually run into and how to fix it in under a minute. For what the screen should show when everything works, start with the padbol scoreboard guide.

Symptoms at a glance
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|
| Point score one off | Point tapped for the wrong pair | Point undo |
| Games wrong after a long rally | Game awarded by mistake | Game undo |
| Players disagree about the format | Format not agreed before the match | Agree before starting; confirm league formats with us |
| PIN not accepted | Match has reset, or wrong court | Scan your court's TV again |
| TV stops updating | TV lost its connection | Check the TV's network; restart it |
| Screen hard to read | Reflections on the glass or sun | Change the angle or theme |
| Wrong sport on the court | Court set to padel or another sport | Change the court's sport on the dashboard |
| Sponsor missing | Content not assigned to the court | Check sponsor settings |
The score is one point or one game off
Padbol rallies end suddenly, often with a header or a volley off the wall, and the scorer may tap before the pairs have agreed who won it. Rather than starting again, step back with point undo, or game undo if a whole game went to the wrong side, until the screen shows what both pairs accept. The rest of the match stays as it was.
Players disagree about the format
Padbol rules and scoring details can vary between federations, leagues and events, and players coming from padel or football may expect different things. Agree the format before the first point, especially how many sets are played and what happens at deuce. The scoreboard shows sets, games and points in a 15-30-40 style; if your league uses a specific format, confirm with us that it is set up correctly before matches rely on it.
The PIN or QR code does not work
- Check the court. At venues with padel and padbol courts side by side, it is easy to scan the wrong TV. Each PIN belongs to one court.
- Check the match is current. The QR code and PIN refresh after every match.
- Check the phone's connection. It needs mobile data or Wi-Fi. The full flow is in the padbol scoreboard app guide.
The TV stops updating
If the phone shows the new score but the TV does not, the TV has probably lost its connection. A brief drop is no problem: scoring keeps working and syncs when the connection returns. If the TV stays offline, check its network and restart it. The setup checks in how to set up a padbol scoreboard on your TV cover the basics.
The screen is hard to read
On enclosed courts the usual cause is a reflection on the glass in front of the screen, or low sun on an open court. Tilt the screen slightly downward, shade it, or switch to Classic or Pro for more contrast. Placement is covered in outdoor padbol court scoreboard.
The court shows the wrong sport
Many padbol courts sit next to padel courts, and a court can be set to the wrong sport. Change the court's sport to padbol on the dashboard; the next match uses padbol.
A sponsor is missing
Sponsor content is assigned per court. Check that it is assigned to the padbol court and that the dates are current; see padbol scoreboard sponsorship.
Names and photos disappeared
By design: player names and photos used for a match are temporary and are removed when the match ends.
Habits that prevent problems
- After the first point, everyone looks at the TV: if the score is there, the phone joined the right court.
- Keep the phone on the bench, not in a pocket; padbol is too physical for that.
- Agree the format before starting, especially with new players.
- Once a week, play a test point on the court TV when the court is free.
The ball hit the screen
If a screen has been mounted where a kicked ball can reach it, it will eventually be hit. If the picture is damaged, the score itself is safe: it lives on the system, not on the TV, so a replacement TV can open the same court's scoreboard and carry on. Then move the new screen outside the enclosure or behind protection. The safest positions are described in outdoor padbol court scoreboard.
Getting help
If none of the above solves it, send us a short note through the contact page with three details: which court, roughly when it happened, and a photo of the screen if you can take one. That is usually enough to find the cause quickly. For issues that are not specific to padbol, the general scoreboard troubleshooting guide is a good first stop.
Frequently asked questions
A header was given to the wrong pair. How do we correct it?
Tap undo until the score matches what both pairs agree on; the match carries on from there.
Does the scoreboard use official padbol rules?
It shows sets, games and points in a 15-30-40 style. Because padbol formats vary, confirm your league's format with us before competition.
Why is my PIN not accepted?
The match may have reset with a new PIN, or you scanned another court's TV. Scan your own court's TV again.
What happens if the Wi-Fi drops during a rally?
Scoring keeps working during a short drop and syncs once the connection returns.
Why is the screen hard to read through the glass?
Usually a reflection. Change the angle, add shade or switch to a high-contrast theme.
Can we switch the court from padbol to padel?
Yes. Change the court's sport on the dashboard; the next match uses padel scoring.
