Buying a Padel Scoreboard: A Club Checklist Before You Decide

Before you buy a padel scoreboard, decide what the screen has to do on your courts: follow padel rules such as golden point and match tiebreaks, be readable from the far glass, be easy for players to run, and grow with the number of courts and events you host. The right choice for a single social court is not the same as for a ten-court club with leagues every night. This guide gives you the questions to ask, a checklist to score any system against, and a plan-by-plan view of Multi Score Screen.

Start with how your courts are used

Write down, before you compare anything, how your padel courts are actually used:

  • How many courts, and are they indoor, covered or open-air?
  • Do you only run padel, or also tennis, pickleball, padbol or other sports?
  • How many league nights, tournaments or events do you host in a season?
  • Do spectators watch, and where from: the glass, a café, a terrace?
  • Do you have sponsors today, or would you like to sell screen space?
  • Who will score: players, coaches, staff?

The answers decide most of what follows. A club that hosts a weekly league needs tournament tools and referee scoring; a club with one court and regular groups mostly needs a readable screen and simple control.

The padel-specific must-haves

RequirementWhy it matters in padelWhat to look for
Golden point and advantageClubs and competitions use bothA choice per match, shown clearly at 40-40
Tiebreaks and match tiebreaksPlayers lose count at 6-6 and in a deciding tiebreakPoint count on screen with a serve indicator
Doubles layoutFour names, two pairs, one serverEach pair in its own row, with the serving pair marked
ReadabilityThe far player can be over 20 metres awayLarge game-score numerals; test from the far corner
UndoFast exchanges cause mis-tapsPoint and game undo without restarting
Referee optionFinals and showcase courts need a neutral scoreA dedicated referee mode on a phone

Multi Score Screen covers each of these: padel matches can be scored with golden point or advantage, tiebreaks are counted on screen with a serve indicator, each pair has its own row with names and photos, and referee mode gives a referee plus and minus buttons for each pair.

Hardware: what you really need

Some scoreboards are dedicated electronic boards that must be bought, mounted and wired. Multi Score Screen runs on the TV or display a court already has, so the hardware question becomes simpler:

  • one TV or display per court, positioned outside the court where everyone can read it,
  • an internet connection for that TV, plus either a streaming app or an HDMI input,
  • a phone for whoever scores.

Outdoor courts need a display suited to sunlight and weather; see the outdoor padel court scoreboard guide. For networks in padel halls, see the padel scoreboard Wi-Fi guide.

Beyond the score: features that pay back

Once the basics are covered, the differences between systems are in what happens around the score:

  • Live scores by QR code for spectators, in any mobile browser, with no app.
  • Reservations and court modes (rental, lesson, tournament) in the same account.
  • Statistics on reservations and occupancy by sport, with CSV export.
  • Privacy: player names and photos used for a match are temporary and removed when it ends.

Questions to ask any supplier

  • Does it support golden point, advantage and match tiebreaks for padel?
  • Can it run on our existing TVs, or does it need its own hardware?
  • How do players start a match and how do they correct mistakes?
  • What happens if the Wi-Fi drops during a point?
  • Can one account run several courts and several sports?
  • How are sponsors managed, and can each court show different ones?
  • What is included in the price: updates, support, onboarding?
  • How long does it take to get the first court live?

For Multi Score Screen the answers are on this site; most clubs have their first court live the same day they sign up.
