Before buying a badminton scoreboard, check that it applies badminton's rules (rally scoring to 21, a two-point lead from 20-20 and the cap at 30), that every court can have its own screen without distracting players, that rallies can be recorded quickly from a phone, that it runs events across a full hall and how it is licensed. Multi Score Screen runs on the TV or display a court already has, so the real choices are software, screen placement and the plan.

Start with your hall and your week

Write down each court and what happens on it during a normal week:

  • Club nights with players rotating on and off courts.
  • Coaching for juniors and adults.
  • League matches with home and away teams.
  • Tournaments a few times a season.
  • Bookings by members and the public, often shared with other sports.

Courts used for leagues and events need the most from a scoreboard. Courts mainly used for coaching need a visible score and quick resets.

Screen questions

  1. Do the courts have TVs already? Any TV with internet and a streaming app or HDMI input can be a scoreboard.
  1. Where will each screen hang? At the side near the net, out of the shuttle's flight line; see badminton hall scoreboard.
  1. How bright? Moderate; a very bright screen behind a baseline can distract.
  1. Is there internet at each position? Large halls usually need access points; see the badminton scoreboard Wi-Fi guide.

Format questions

Most badminton is best of three games to 21. If you also play shorter formats, such as single games or games to 15 for juniors, test them in a demo before relying on them. Decide who scores in each session: players, coaches or umpires. Optical sensors that detect points automatically are included only with the Unlimited plan.

Beyond the score: running the hall

A badminton hall is a booking business as much as a sports venue, so look at what the system does when nobody is playing. Each court can be set to rental, lesson or tournament mode, which keeps club nights, coaching blocks and event days apart. Reception works from the Court Status Board, which shows at a glance which courts are empty, in use or reserved, and from the Reservation Calendar, where bookings are added, moved or cancelled. At the end of a term, statistics show reservations and occupancy by sport, exportable as CSV for the committee. Leagues that want team names and colors on screen need Pro, Elite or Unlimited, and halls that want their own identity instead of ours need the white-label branding included in Elite and Unlimited. The sponsor strip and between-match content are part of every plan, as explained in badminton scoreboard sponsorship.

Plans side by side

Hall sizePlan that usually fitsPriceWhat you get beyond the score
One showcase courtStarter$44/month or $528/yearOne court, one sport
Four or five courtsPro$134/month or $1,608/yearAll eight sports, team names and colors
Six to ten courtsElite$224/month or $2,688/yearWhite-label branding, dedicated onboarding, priority support with SLA
Any size, bought outrightUnlimited$1,299 per court, one-timeNo term limit, optical sensors included; software updates not included

A club with four or five courts usually fits Pro; a full sports hall with eight to ten courts fits Elite. Halls that prefer a one-time purchase per court choose Unlimited. General cost questions are answered in the court scoreboard cost guide, and multi-sport halls should read the multi-sport scoreboard guide.

Warning signs in a demo

Be wary if a system stops a game at 21-20, cannot show who serves next, asks every player to download an app and register, expects one screen to cover several courts, or forces you to restart a match to correct a single rally. Each of those becomes a daily irritation on a busy club night.

A practical test before you buy

Run a demo on your busiest court during a club night. Take one game to 20-20 and then to 29-29, and check the result. Ask a junior player to read the score from the far baseline, and ask a parent in the balcony to follow the match on their phone. Those three checks cover most of what matters.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need new screens for a badminton scoreboard?

Not necessarily. Any TV or display with internet and a streaming app or HDMI input works, mounted at the side of the court.

Which plan suits a hall with eight courts?

Elite covers up to ten courts with all eight sports and white-label branding. Unlimited licenses each court once.

Does it handle the 20-20 and 29-29 rules?

Yes. Both are applied automatically.

Are optical sensors included?

Only with the Unlimited plan. Otherwise the score is entered from a phone or in referee mode.

Can the same courts be used for other sports?

Yes. One account scores eight sports, and a court's sport can be changed on the dashboard.
